Remember this? Came up on playing in the offices today. Good times.
Illy "Hollertronix" era, Diplo remix of TV On The Radio - "Staring At The Sun" x Dead Prez - "Hell Yeah"
Some Heroes actually first discovered TV On The Radio in early 2004, via CNet's Download.com music section. It was kind of an amazing place back then to tap into the unheard world of small indie artists. T-Radd (most of the original songs are not findable..), Atomic Puppy (can't find a music link at all), Ghetto Girl, many others I can't remember right now & this very weird looking crew from Brooklyn, NY (Brooklyn? What musicians were there or came from there besides Biggie? --- obviously this is in jest...but in 2003, vs. in 2013...ha!)... with a gem of a song called "Staring at the Sun", and a cover of The Pixies', "Mr. Grieves". They did well and it was most deserved.
TV On The Radio - Mr. Grieves (click below left to play...)
This one was a classic as well...
BTW...the original video for Dead Prez' "Hell Yeah" is on some hard shit...

NEW KID. MAC DEMARCO.
Recently we've been quite taken with one Mac Demarco, and his band of ruffians hailing from Montréal, Quebec, Canada. First came a 12" called Rock n' Roll Nightclub and some other tracks online, then a quick signing with Captured Tracks, a mysteriously up-then-gone video for "Only You", some whispers about shows @ SXSW, some great tunes, and this (posted at the end) live performance by Pitchfork.
Lots of things. Lots of music. Lots of fun you guys.
Let's just say there seem to be lots of good things to come from the young lad. Here's some tunes to bang to.
He also likes to smoke.

I LIKE THIS SONG.
What can I say, I went from SB is aight...to... they suck (post Coachella 2010, not a great sounding show), to... OK, I'm kinda down (post Coachella 2011, stepped it UP).
Had a conversation w/ one of their music placement reps, who was at our studio last fall, in which she told me she had just been with them in an old NYC gymnasium they had rented to get clap and stomp sounds...these ones obviously.

DEATH REUNION.
For some reason there is a little part of me (sometimes a big part of me) that always cringes at a 'reunion'.
However, this time its Death From Above 1979.
From You're a Woman, I'm a Machine
Little Girl
Black History Month
This un-embedable "Girl on Girl" version is pretty great...
...and I kind of love/hate this random thrash rock version...
Hopefully this weekends show doesn't go down like SXSW this yrrrrrr..

Death From Above 1979 reunion show at SXSW 2011 at Beauty Bar on March 20, 2011 at 1am .
This was the first song in their set. Fans who were unable to get inside were still able to see through a chain length fence in the alley, but eventually tore down the fence multiple times until police officers began using pepper spray and tazers. The venue only held around 200 people.
