EMPIRE OF THE SUN 2. ITS HAPPENING.

With an extremely detailed and hands on marketing scheme, the enigmatic & flamboyant, Duo of Empire of the Sun returns in all of its glory. With a pop-up listening party at SXSW, and now with a series of teasers to hype their coming album, Ice On The Dune, due out in June of this year. All four unlockable teasers are being revealed at both the Empire of The Sun official website, and (sans only the first so far...) a chosen music blog for each. And you get to use a decoder wheel if you really want to get into it.

The first, a trailer-style video, titled "Discovery (Trailer)", depicts an archaeological dig on the Guerrero peninsula, in which cave paintings showing "empire of the sun" are discovered, a snippet of new music is played, and the EOS boys (Luke Steele & Nick Littlemore) are shown in full regalia.

The second, (revealed on Channel [V] & a code to unlock a series of four high-res "cave paintings", showing a part of the story of told by the new album), and third (revealed on NME, & another code, unlocking a series of 4 .gif images showing another part of the story), are now available to see, with 2 more coming in April.

They always have plenty of sicky art fa sho.

VIDEO PUSHING.

Yeah Erykah.

Not a horrible horrible production cost for a great video.

Feelin this video made by Burn Ignite on Julius Wright...fella got some talent.

I've always been so-so on Yeasayer. Their first album was ok, very listenable, but I was a bit taken aback when an unpleasant family of overachievers I shared a holiday with remarked on them in particular, in my first few listens of All Hour Cymbals. This video has me more like 'WTF' than, 'OMG.' Someone must've watched Eraserhead a couple times before writing this treatment. I do dig Kristen Bell though, and all looks really nice. 5D?

Also, some more photos and a nice review of the Empire of the Sun show, of which I attended night 2/4...it was beyond amazing.

Ok, now lets push it.

LUKE STEELE = PRINCE 2010.

Empire of the Sun blasted with existence in my late Vancouver days, beginnings of 2009. I saw the video for 'Walking on a Dream' and that was it. The song was amazing, and the visuals just added to the intrigue. Soon after I acquired the album and was again, blown away. Fabulous from start to finish.

W'hen are they playing in the US?' was going around for a while; the day has come. 4 consecutive sold out nights @ Henry Fonda / Music Box (their first stateside gig was Lollapalooza a week or 2 ago if I'm not mistaken). Of which we caught #3. You could in no way tell that that was the case. Homies played like it was their only US show.

They have only the one album, so the set wasn't SUPER long, and Nick Lattimore was absent, but they dropped in a few non LP tracks, performed to the utmost 100% of the way through, and KILLED with some new instrumental BANGER post 'Walking on a Dream' encore.

4 thumbs up. Rock on.
