22 y.o. wunderkind, and current reigning champion of (mostly) "chill-trap", Flume, has released his first full length album, to much anticipation. The self-titled, 14 track album was released earlier this year on Future Classic records, and is available for purchase in their online shop. A great album. Sidenote : we highly reccommend you check the "Get Free" remix down below...

Since he started to create music using a production CD he found in a cereal box, the guy has done a lot. Winning awards in his native Australia, going platinum, touring the world, and whatever the fuck else.

A remix of Major Lazer's, "Get Free", was their real intro to the globe, and has been getting us open over here for a little while now... peep game...track is killing shit all over the place. Can't get tired of it. Even after we've heard the original, and a number of other remixes many, many times since forever ago. Always completely on purpose. The other couple are equally pure blissful crunk inspirers.

New from true "electronic" music pioneer Flux Pavillion comes the five track Freeway EP. It is now available, and its killing. This track "Gold Love", featuring Rosie Oddie is murder. Great shit right here.

Flux achieved international recognition with the track "I Can't Stop", which was eventually sampled by Shama "Sak Pase" Joseph for the song "Who Gon Stop Me" from Watch The Throne. He is also (along with Doctor P) the co-founder of Circus Records. and has been inspiring producers of sample and "beat" based music for years! We're certainly psyched on this new material. Ak like you know.

The EP also features tracks with Dillon Francis, Steve Aoki, and Turin Breaks.

Monarchy is def one of our recent faves, and seeing them @ Coachella (w/ the homie Matt Andrade behind the front of house boards!!) really solidified their dopeness.

They've been kicking around since '09, and about a year ago, in Cape Canaveral, Florida, their first live performace was broadcast directly into space...making them the first band with a direct space live show transmission! What's not to love!?

DOMINO WEEKS.

It's really being a Domino Record Co. couple of weeks. The big and obvious thing is that label founders Junior Boys release a new full length on Tuesday. I've had a few listens and am quite into it. Very enjoyable indeed.

However, also this past week, I blogged about and went to see, a couple of other Domino artists (Anna Calvi & Devonte Hynes. Not originally knowing they were label-mates...), and on top of all this, its also the second to last day of Domino Radio! A week of streaming radio featuring sets of hand picked music from many Domino artists, and other musical curators.

Well Anna Calvi was really really amazing (see below. I'm kind of crushing out a little bit), and the Blood Orange track is tight, I"m looking forward to the full length...

ITS THE JAM.

NOTHINGS THAT ARE SWEET.

The Sounds of Sweet Nothing have 2 records under their belts. The UK's Unknown Mortal Orchestra's now sold out, self-titled 7" EP, and the new Distressor EP from S.F. band Whirl.


The first is a surfy, lo-fi rocker with plenty of Brit feel. Looking forward to more from these lads, and hopefully checking them out @ The Troubadour on March 11 with Starfucker (STRFKR)...should be good times. "How Can U Luv Me" is def my fave so far...the whole EP is nicely melodic, a bit soulful, and just all around fun shit.



The second EP has a definite 'wall of sound' feel. Coming in at just under 25 min, it reminds me strongly of My Bloody Valentine, with huge washed out verb, plenty of big dramatic chord changes. Distressor EP is out April 7 on The Sounds of Sweet Nothing.

Oh and here's a little Starfucker nugget....

I'm new to Planningtorock! And well, this is kind of awesome...



Well his HER! name is Janine Rostron (that voice/video in "Doorway" seriously had me fooled!), she's from Bolton (UK), she's based in Berlin, she's had a mini-label (Rostron Records) and now a deal w/ DFA, and she makes some seriously sick tripped out jammers.





Looking forward for her new things to come....
